You’re driving a Single Seater Race Car for 10 laps around Bruce McLaren Motorsport Park Taupo Track 3
In an experience normally reserved for the professionals, you now have the chance to feel the thrill of driving our single seater racecars!
A driving experience that will suit both novice and experienced drivers alike, these racecars offer drivers that pure sensation of just you, the track and the car.
Comprehensive Tuition
You’ll start by watching our DVD tuition which explains the basics of driving on a race track and also the tricks to driving these unique racecars. Then you’ll move onto the tuition lap where one of our in-car consultants will take you and a passenger of your choice for a couple of laps around the track to learn the lines around the racetrack.
Then it’s all down to you!!!
Getting strapped into the Formula Challenge single seater is an experience all on it’s own!! As you hit the starter button and feel the engine burst into life only inches behind you, your heart starts to race. Clutch in and engage first gear using the F1-style push buttons on the steering wheel, ease off the clutch and you’re away. You’ll be surprised at how easy they are to drive but how fast they are as you make your way onto the track.

Then….. just as quickly as it started, you’ll see the chequered flag and it’s time to head back into the pit lane. And just in case it is all just a blur, you’ll be presented with a certificate with your fastest lap and a picture of you just before you had the thrill of your life!!!!!
Get on the Leaderboard
This experience is timed so you can see how you did compared to others on the official Leaderboard. With 15 years of experience, this is New Zealand’s only Qualmark endorsed provider of motorsport experiences.

Bruce Mclaren Motorsport Park (also known as the Taupo Motorsport Park) is a premier driving experiences and Motorsport facility in Taupo, New Zealand. It has hosted many of the biggest Motorsport events in the country, including the A1 Grand Prix, V8 Supertourers, NZV8’s, D1NZ and Truck Racing.
THE VEHICLE
Open Wheel Race Car
The Formula Challenge race cars provide you with the unique experience of what it’s like to drive a Formula 1 or Indycar. They feature a race developed Suzuki 1100cc engine that produces 150hp, propelling these little rocketships from 0-100kph in 3.4 second and can achieve a top speed of 230kph!
